I've had two of these for a few years. I bought them at the same time from a Sears surplus store. The power switch broke on one of them after maybe two years. "One of these days" I'll fix it. The other is still working OK.

These have a surprising amount of power and do a good job of sweeping. They are relatively compact and light weight. One consequence of the light weight is construction that is less than industrial strength in some spots, so the still working sweeper I have is showing its age. But, considering the price, I think that is to be expected.

Replacing the power head belt might be a challenge for those who have little mechanical ability. However, the power head uses a standard Royal #4 belt which you can get replaced at just about any commercial janitor supply.

This vacuum cleaner is a great value if you prefer a canister style vacuum. It has a lot of power and works well. It is lightweight and has an awsome shoulder strap. The only drawback to this model is that there is an external powercord from the machine to the power nozzle, and if you want to disconnect the power nozzle and use another attachment, it is fairly cumbersome to unhook the power cord. But I am happy to live with that drawback for this machine's great performance value ratio.

I thank Hoover for making this broom vac. It's easy to use, easy to clean and does an excellent job picking up fur from my three cats!!!
Consumer Reports rates it as #1 and I join them in their assessment.
The only problem is that it does not always vacuum right next to the walls and baseboards. An unvacuumed strip about 1/2 inch wide sometimes remains.

I bought this vacuum from Amazon about a year ago because I have hardwood floors and rugs. It didn't have a rotary brush that sucked up the rugs. About six months ago the swivel head came off and ever since falls off just about every time I vacuum. Also the filter clogs up every time you vacuum. It's hard to get all the dust and dog hair off the material. I have to pick at it and bang it against the fence outside. You do have to wash it regularly. It picks up fairly good, but the swivel head is a real problem after it fell off the first time. I'm about ready to throw it away and get another brand.

Big Disappointment ...
After owning and enjoying good performance from two other Panasonic vacuum sweepers, I was surprised by, and extremely disappointed in, the poor utility of the Model MC-UL671.
The filter system is a disaster. Sold as an improvement over the conventional `bag systems', the bag-less collector and filter system clogs easily, leaks dust, and is filthy to manage.
The suction strength is marginal. Suction is not evenly distributed across the brush-head resulting in poor lint or dog-hair pick-up.
The design and routing of the vacuum hose is problematic ... the vacuum hose constantly falls from its molded carrier during operation and must be repositioned.
The `hand tools' are difficult to utilize because the machine tends to `fall-over' (with a loud crash), often ejecting the filter system.

After reading a lot of reviews of vacuums under 0 bucks, I selected this Bissell. The only fault, which I knew in advance, is that if using the hand-held brush, the main beater bar continues rotating. Not a problem for me, but others have complained it has worn spots in their carpet.

So far I'm very pleased, no complaints, really cleans the carpet, including carpet that had been cleaned with my old vacuum. Dirt cup is easy to empty and no clogging of the hose that feeds the dirt into the cup, a problem with my old vac.

I do find that frequent adjusting of the carpet height knob is required when changing from flat berber-type carpet to plush. If not, the vacuum is extremely difficult to push. This is to be expected, but some higher-end vacs automatically adjust.

I will recommend this vac, and since I paid under .00 delivered, it was a tremendous value.

Low quality, no support - JM -
The belt of my 3-week-old vacuum cleaner broke for no particular reason. Bissell told me I would have to go buy a new belt as the belt is not covered by the warranty -- even though this was a nearly brand-new vacuum.

Also, I notice that even with light use, the vacuum becomes quite dirty and requires a lot of attention to get the dirt out of all the various parts. You need a vacuum to clean up from cleaning the vacuum.

I sincerely regret buying this vacuum cleaner and would never buy another Bissell product.
